Bio
Dr Guido Noto La Diega is Senior Lecturer in Cyber Law and Intellectual Property at Northumbria Law School, where they are International Research Partnerships Coordinator and Co-convenor of NINSO – Northumbria Internet & Society Research Group. Alongside research and teaching, Dr Noto La Diega provides expert legal advice on matters of European, UK, and Italian Data Protection, Privacy, Cyber Law, Intellectual Property, and Consumer Protection.
Dr Noto La Diega holds a PhD in Private Law (Unipa), a postdoc in Cloud Computing Law (QMUL), and was called to the Bar of Italy in 2013 (non-practicing). They have octennial academic experience in 8 jurisdictions and 3 continents, including funded research residencies or visiting professorships at Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition (Germany), Estacio de Sa (Brazil) and Novosibirsk State University (Russia).
Author of some 90 publications mainly concerning Intellectual Property, Cyber Law, Privacy and Data Protection, they are Director of Ital-IoT Centre for Multidisciplinary Research on the Internet of Things, Fellow of the Nexa Center for Internet & Society, member of the EU Commission’s AI Alliance, and they have given evidence to the UK Parliament in matters of platform regulation and big data.
